Defending the Raven

Sigh

There’s nothing like the day after a wonderful night in with the person you love. In all my postings yesterday I don’t think I mentioned what SR and I were doing for Valentine’s Day. I’m one of those lucky men who is married to a woman who doesn’t get all excited by V-day. She’s more of the single rose and a foot rub school of romance than the big gesture on V-day. That’s not to say she doesn’t appreciate it, it’s just that she doesn’t see the point in spending twice as much on dinner out and flowers when we could spend so much less any other day of the week. I on the other hand am a hopeless romantic and enjoy having an excuse like V-day to do something silly.

However, this year I restrained myself because spending a lot of money just isn’t in the cards. SR had also mentioned that she wanted to do what we did last year, which was stay in, make a nice dinner, have some wine, and just hang out with each other. I was fine with that. It was interesting though because she didn’t ask me anything about what I wanted or what we should do. All I knew was that we were having lamb. We had a half-rack of lamb in the freezer so I knew we’d be having that.

Though I kinda felt like I wasn’t doing my job and participating, but I knew SR was planning it all and I loved that. However, yesterday I did go to a store to buy some stuff that I knew she would like — cheese. Plus I knew she wouldn’t be thinking about dessert and if she did she’d be obsessing about it so I took care of it too. We had a great dinner and great chat. Of course, that led to some great sex later, but I’m still kinda glowing about it so I’ll write about it later.

However, since SR put together such a great dinner for me I thought I’d share it all with you. So here is Our Valentine’s Day 2006 menu:
