Like I need Another Overpriced Obsession

Bryant Park – NYC

As if Starbucks and porn weren’t expensive enough I am finally admitting to it (about a year later) that I’m addicted to Jamba Juice. If you don’t live in a larger city I’m sure you have no idea what I’m talking about, but it’s fruit smoothies people. Cool, fruity goodness in a 16 oz. cup. Sure it was much easier to resist because they are full or calories and fat (yeah fruit, plus a yogurt base = deception on massive scales). But now they have low cal. versions. Still not great for you, but they are satisfying and filling enough to actually make lunch. However, at $6 a pop they are not cheapt, but like Starbucks and porn it’s worth the hit to the wallet.

Now couple that with a gorgeous summer day in NYC — 75 degrees, sunny and hot — and the price goes down for the full experience. I work within two blocks of Bryant Park, which is behing the main branch of the New York Public Library (Seen the new york building with the giant lion statues out front? That’s it). Sure most people think of NYC as skyscrapers and concrete, but we have some of the most amazing pockets of greenery in the world. I sat in the shade on the great lawn sipping on my smoothie and nearly fell asleep.

Talk about a perfect lunch! Jealous? SR was!

  1. I love that park. You didn’t mention the hot midtown workers who strip to bathing suits or shorts to get some sun at lunch during the summer.
